They are complete noobs... root and get rid of videotron's tweaked, slow, weak signals and restrictive rom. you wont regret it. Just for extended battery usage, its well worth it to root.

Thanks for the tip. Any suggestions on rom and kernel I should use with videotron or does it make any difference?

No difference at all, only thing is keeping in mind that you have a gsm galaxy nexus model. Flash the appropriate file for your model.

Im using franco ms3 kernel along with aokp ms5 rom. Combo gives me very nice performance (cpu overclocked at 1344 and minimal to 384) and very decent extended battery life. (with limited widget and 4g usage along with low screen brightness) And the personalization options aokp gives is awesome compared to stock.

cool I will probably try the same you installed, since I haven't installed any rom yet and still on stock 4.0.1, I will at least play around with something I know some1 already has.

I should be good with flashing the ROM from I read its only a matter of making a nandroid before anything else, then clear my caches, factory reset then install ROM and after that I flash the kernel.

I think I have to install new radios as well.

Restore any backup I previously made with titanium or adb.

Anything else I am missing or should know before I go with it?

To my knowledge, In almost cases, the radio is included in the rom. I dont play with radio since its very sensitive for the phone.

Root and unlock 1st (i used wugs toolkit, went smooth) For the rest, you seem to have done your homeworks dont forget the dalvik cache clean too along with data wipe. The videotron apn infos are listed in a thread if you need it afterward.

Thanks for your help iPeck. BTW I think we live close to each other lol.

I will unlock again which I don't mind losing everything, this will allow me to do a Nandroid of my stock out of the box phone. Then will do the move to another ROM.

Although I used Gnex Toolkit 6.2 to do the job which is pretty awesome.

Thanks again will let you know if everything went smooth.
