Thumbs down Galaxy Nexus + Verizon Booster

Not a question, just my own experience to share.

Because I have a terrible signal in my house, so when I got my DroidX, I ended up picking up a Network Extender ( Set Your Location )

It has been working great for the DroidX, but the Galaxy Nexus, not so much. Last night, I was playing with the Nex in the bedroom (the extender is in my (stiny) office, 20ft away) and I was forced to connect to WiFi in order to get web-access. 3G dropped to 1 bar, and the browser couldn't connect on 3G alone.
I haven't had issues with it while I am working (since its 2ft away) but it just seems a bit strange that even with the network extender, the signal is quite weak.

Gotta wonder if the data extender can handle 4G, since it was probably built before the 4G network was up?

Its 3G only unfortunately, so I have LTE off to have a bit longer battery-life.

I was wondering the same thing. I noticed on the VZ website "device sales" shows the Network Extender and specifically mentions it's for 3G. That tells me it's no good for 4G! Now what? Will we have to get a new one when they develop one for 4G or is it something that can be upgraded? I guess I could still use it in 3G mode for now.

It can't be upgraded to 4G, since the technology is different. For internet usage, it doesn't matter anyway, because the thing uses your own internet connection, so you might as well enable Wifi and get speeds faster than 4G at home.

A friend of mine has the extender and it really is almost useless if you're not in the same room as it.

I recently ungraded my Verizon 1G extender (that didn't work well) to the 3G model. You no longer have to be within 15' to log in...that was dumb. It works well and speed tests to around 1.5 Mbs. It appears that everyone in my building (and Verizon) benefits because you can't lock it down. They're only $100 used from Verizon or eBay. I recommend them for voice, texting and data.

Mine works alright but I wanted better so I ordered a new one. Should be up and running soon.

I took these with my GNex standing in my drivingway yesterday and today. Think I might be selling my indoor extender.
