Is there a fix for the small MMS image sizes?

My wife sends me MMS pictures of my kids whenever I'm away, and she has a Galaxy Nexus on VZW with Go SMS Pro. Her settings are set to "preserve original resolution" as well as a 1.2mb limit. I have the same setting on mine. I believe that Go SMS Pro is irrelevant tho, since I look at the messages in the stock Messaging app, and the details of the images is never above 300k. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm overlooking that would allow me to receive a full size image? I really want the highest quality of pix and its killing me.
