Cannot copy files from phone to computer, and Tibu locking up. Suggestions?

Hello RS, I have a bad feeling that we need to be introduced as I'm having a more difficult time with the GNex than I did with my DX. I really thought I would be able to work this phone fairly well after all I learned to do with my DX, however, this seems to not be the case. My name is Cameron and I'm fighting this thing every step of the way when it comes to needing to use my computer to do anything with it.

Today, I'm wanting to do what I need to to change from unlocked, rooted, running AOKP build 27, to running Liquid 1.1. TiBu was fine until this morning, I went to backup everything, but it keeps locking up and never makes it past 7% at most. Not sure what happened to get it to do this. Other issue is I'm unable to copy files from the phone to computer to backup there. It just says calculating time to copy files and never gets past that. My computer info is WinXP 32 bit. I was able to do this before, but not this morning. Kind of strange.

My apologies for this part in advance. I've had my phone for a couple of weeks now, so I'm still really new to this. More so, because between work and just moving a couple of states away, I've not had the time I need to properly read up and learn what need to know. Therefor, I'm going to ask a couple of dumb questions that I'm unsure of and just really need a simple direct answer to help me understand. From what I have picked up on, to change roms, I need to wipe caches, data, format system, flash new rom, and go. When I do all that, does it wipe all of my data off? Sorry, still not grasping what I need to about the lack of sd card and how this part works when flashing. On my DX, everything on the card was untouched, but I'm not sure about without the card. And, I kind of need to know, since I can't get it to transfer to my computer.

Hey Talon there are no dumb questions. First off don't think of this phone as not having a sd card. Just think of it as having an sd card you can't take out. That said when you wipe data, cache, dalvik it just wipes system (OS) data and will not touch the contents of your "sd card". Make sure usb debugging is checked settings>developer options.

As for your TB issue have you changed any settings in Titanium? On main TiBu screen what check marks do you have? (Root Access OK (busybox 1.118.4......)

Once again, Paul to the rescue! TB pro 4.8.2, busybox 1.18.4, and everything is checked except for the dropbox that I've never set up yet. And haven't changed any settings on it. Thank you for explaining the sd thing so that I can understand it! I was curious, because whenever I did transfer files between the computer and phone, it took FOREVER.

So, it sounds like I just need to get the files from the computer to the phone for Liquid and I should be good to go. I'll do that and see if it helps my other issues and we'll go from there. I've also got to do a quick tune up on my girl's Explorer and some other things around the house since I finally have a day off. So, I'll be on here on and off today.

Edit: One more quick question, you said that wiping caches and data doesn't touch the card part, but what about formatting system that it says to do before flashing Liquid? That leave the card section alone also? Thanks!

Well, just transferred from the computer to the phone with no issues. Thanks Paul, I'll try to get back with a report on how it all went after I get a minute to do it in the middle of the rest of my honeydo list today.

Same for formatting system. Won't touch your sd card partition and only wipes "System". I do it all the time flashing roms.

I have the same issue as you when transferring from my phone to my computer. It's normally because there is just to much stuff on the SD card. If you break it down into smaller bites for the phone to transfer to the computer it will normally do it successfully. Depending on what folders you are transferring you might be able to do 5 folders at a time or you might have to do one. Especially the clockwork folder. If you have a couple NanDroids that folder is sometimes a couple GBs. I wouldn't try to transfer more then a could GBs at a time. it will probably lock up then.

I can't get anything to go from phone to computer. Doesn't seem to matter about the size or quantity. I tried the whole 4 gigs I have atm, as well as a single folder with less than half a gig. Odd. Hopefully, I just have a simple setting wrong somewhere. I'll get it figured out when I get time. Now that I understand that flashing doesn't touch the card section, I'm not too worried about it immediately. I'll get it later. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Wish it worked for me.

Paul, thanks for verifying that. I went ahead and flashed it and it worked fine. Just restoring stuff now.

It just seems really odd that you can not move files from GN to pc yet you can move files from pc to phone with no issues. In control panel>device manager>Universal serial bus controllers do you have any conflicts?
