Hi Paul,
I'd just like to ask what is the difference between ChainsDD Superuser and Chainfire's Supersu? I was tempted to install Superuser in JB but had second thoughts because it may get unstable. Anyway I never had problems flashing new roms back and forth with JB and Cyanogen using CWM Rom Manager and CWM Recovery Touch. I even try to flash some unstable AOSP roms I compiled and didn't have issues restoring CWM backups.
Galaxy Nexus CM 10.1
Nexus 7 3G Stock & rooted /w SMS.apk and viber
Nexus 4 stock unrooted

A rusty android beats a rotten apple any day...

With that being said I wanted to go back to a backup I had but not one would work always got an error. So o tried to flash the liquid 1.5 zip I had nothing but boot loops. So after I did factory reset in recovery I tried jelly bean and it booted just fine. My conclusion is once you go jelly bean there is no going back.

1. Make sure you're not using touch CWM recovery use version 5.5.0.4
2. Wipe out all caches
3. Flash your backup via CWM recovery not using rom manager.
If #1~3 don't work, then try to reflash CWM recovery using rom manager, and repeat 2 and 3.
Brick Count: Zero
- Galaxy Nexus LTE: Resold it to Verizon.
- Verizon Galaxy Note2: Rooted / Jelly Beans Build 1 rom / wifi-tethering

Funny, I had the exact same situation. I was running liquid1.4 and loved it. Flashed to vicious jb romad it was great but battery sucked. I (tonight) went back to liquid 1.5 (ics) and forgot to do the wipes and it just hung. I then did a full wipe using clockwork mod and wiped the cache and dalvek cache (didn't flash again) and it worked.
I should also say that at first I thought it was Franco r210 which is a jellybean from, but I was OK

I had no problems coming from JB back to 4.0.4 I did a full wipe then super wipe then flashed my new rom zero problems- I did all that because of all the problems I read that people was having trying to flash back

Well nothing work so I'm just going to use wugs toolkit and start over put my backups on my computer going to see if they will work later
