    Close-Minded People!

I'm going to TRY to keep my FULL opinion to myself since this is from this forum's sister forum...But let's just say the "closed OS" reflects on it's users! (FYI...I own an iPad 2 but I believe in learning BOTH OS since each have something to offer)

***NOTE*** This is NOT meant to start a flame war...this is to open a debate/discussion regarding expanding technology & possibly uniting the choices we currently have...Please THINK about your response BEFORE posting it! I do NOT want to cause extra work for the mods!

Get FULL Android or Windows 8 on iPad?

Seems to me they want 1 device for everything, don't blame them. That would be nice. But I agree with the member that said it isn't gonna happen.

I actually thought that was a rather tame thread.

I could be considered a closed-mind person technically, because I refuse to buy anything Apple for moral reasons. I have no problem getting a Blackberry or Windows device though. But even I have to agree with the one guy who said the advantages to cost/time thing just isn't there. There may be a few people who thikn it would be cool though to boot up whichever one they want though. I would do it just to have it. LOL

If you think about it the only thing needed is drivers for each OS. Windows 8 is supposed to be THE OS that combines PC & mobile together. I guess I'm the only one that can see the HUGE benefits from using ALL the OS's

That was an unbelievably tame thread, compared to some I've seen. I have a philosophical objection to Apple's practices & approaches, so I will never buy one of their products out of principle. Call me close-minded, as well.

I've owned ipads, galaxy tabs, (soon to own a transformer w/ ics!), blackberry's, ipods, several droid phones and my wife has a windows phone... not to mention pc's, macs and some use on linux. Phew!! Did I get them all?? lol... I keep going back to android myself, because I like to customize and I feel they have the best setup to customize (even without rooting, but where's the fun in that?)

Anyway, point is I don't discriminate and I think they all have something to offer. I wouldn't want something that could run them all myself, because (especially with devices) they are built around a specific os.

I agree with the general thought on that thread, it's certainly not worth the work and time to make one device run all 3, but I love the thought of really trying all 3 to see what you like about each.

Closed systems are for those who just want something to do whatever it is they need. I moved from my DX to the GNex mostly because of the locked bootloader on the X. Most of my experience with computers has been with industrial control and monitoring systems, and while certainly no expert nor programmer, Unix, Linux, etc. are simply more efficient and secure. To each his own, but closed systems simply cannot compete overall. JMHO

I never said anything about it being rude or it being a flame war. Just the mentality that "it'll never happen" or "I despise apple/android" attitude. Instead maybe start using your imagination & think of all the possibilities. Apple is an "inbred system"...they have FULL control of their devices...which of course DOES have some advantages. But it's BIGGEST disadvantage is NOT allowing a third party take a crack at developing something different & unique. Let's face it...Steve Jobs WAS the brains of APPLE. As time passes, the effects of his imagination will wear off. Jobs was VERY innovative & it is a HUGE loss to Apple!

Well said Mike! Somewhat akin to the "unsinkable" Titanic. No one person ever has all the answers, no matter how brilliant or lucky they may be. History is littered with examples, computer history included.
