Galaxy Nexus will not get 4.4

I just saw where Google announced that the Galaxy Nexus will not get KitKat! Their given reason was that they only supply updates for phones up to 18 months. This borders on criminal because in the US anyway we are stuck with 2 year (24months) on contract!. That means the last 1/4 of any phones assumed life will not have updates. And of course you are even in worse shape if you did not buy on day of launch or, like Sprint, your carrier takes forever to provide the phone. Probably very few of us die hards left here after the way we have been treated by verizon but I needed to vent!!!

Vent away. It sucks that the GNex won't officially get KitKat, but the Verizon version will probably never officially see 4.3 either. Don't know about the Sprint version. I'm sure there will be custom 4.4 ROMs because the hardware can handle it. But for those who don't root, it's not a solution. Seems Google has their planned obsolescence all figured out.

Shiny ROM already has a 4.4 version available for Verizon GNex. Seems that it has some issues, due to the graphics driver mostly, but everything is working on it (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc).

My contract is almost up. I am trying to talk the wife into letting me get a N5. Hey Muji what is the forum address for it?

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with Verizon for the foreseeable future. Sure sucks that they aren't supporting the N5. If i do upgrade in January, it'll probably be to an S4, which will promptly be rooted and ROM'd.
