Galaxy Nexus Unlocked on Sale now at Google Play.

Many of you may know that Google it's going back to the phone selling business by offering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Unlocked version at Google Play for $399.00 + mandatory 2 day shipping ($10.50) and applicable taxes. Considering Newegg has the price at $479.99 and eBay sellers at around $450.00 this is really a steal. Let's see how Google does this time around considering the nexus one 74 weeks sales of 135,000 compared to iPhone 1 million sales. With the Galaxy S III around the corner i think it's going to be thought on Google. I believe the step taken by Google will benefit us, Galaxy Nexus Owners in the way of aftermarket products offers. Let's see if we begin to see some 3 pin uses soon. Like a music dock that don't cost $400

Any carrier, so the rom isn't locked to the carrier that subsidized the purchase price. Any Nexus can be rooted, fastboot oem unlock is I think the voodoo.

How can they do that considering that different carriers use different radios (GSM/CDMA)...does it have both radio chips in the phone?

This Nexus will only work on GSM networks, but it'll work on all GSM networks, depending on the SIM card you use. It will never work on a CDMA network.

One reason I bought the Nexus was cos of it's penta-band feature.. no need to unlock the phone.. case in point.. I purchased mine from Rogers in CAnada.. had to do a biz trip to the US.. took out the Rogers sim and put in my T-Mobile pay as u go sim.. no problems.

So I have a friend that wants to buy one and his carrier is Verizon, he says that only TMOBILE and AT&T are the only people this phone for $399 shows compatible with, is that true? Or can he go to Verizon? Thanks for any replies in advance-
