I'm thinking of flashing a JB rom. I was goint to try and flash the JB bootloader, a JB ROM, maybe update the radios.
If for some reason I want to come back to ICS, what all would I have to do to flash my nandroid?

It sounds like the JB bootloader is backwards compatible with ICS so I think I could leave that. What about the radio? Would that need to go back? Then I could flash my nandroid?

There are a couple of good methods of doing this. If you are new to flashing roms then Nexus Tool Kit & Wugfresh Tool Kit are good places to start; both will get you back to factory stock ICS if needed. JB bootloader is fine but not neccessary; CWM & TWRP are very good at what they do. You have to be careful with your backups though. I don't recommend restoring apps & system data if you are changing OS software; ie JB back to ICS. This will probalbly soft brick your phone or cause system issues at the very least. Back up apps ONLY. As far as JB roms go there are some good ones out there, do your research and off you go...... I personally like the BAMF Paradigm rom but there are others just as good. The nice thing about the Nexus is you can change roms & OS's continually until you find something that works for you. The forum community here is awesome and is always here to help. First lesson is READ READ READ; next lesson >> follow the dev's instructions COMPLETELY. You can avoid a ton of frustration doing these two simple tasks. Peace out my friend.

So it sounds like the easiest way to get back from JB assuming I flash the the JB bootloader, any new radios, and a JB ROM, is to use the toolkit to take me back to stock, unlock, root, and and then flash my nandroid? Hmm... sounds like a lot of work!

Boot loader is backwards compatible. Just go to recovery and restore your ics backup. If you have radio issues just download and flash ICS radios. You could never get me away from jellybean

Bought my phone a week ago and the first thing I did was rooted it and installed the leaked jellybean that Google posted. Works perfect haven't had a single issue, aside from the low ringer volume but that isn't to be blamed on jellybean.

Agree with this. I know there has been issues with Android in the past about flashing back to earlier versions, but aside from having to return to stock to fix something I won't ever find out.

    Tapped via Galaxy Nexus LTE..

I've used Vicious and Bugless Beast ROM - both are excellent.

Been using the new Affinity ROM that dropped on 9/2. If you haven't tried Affinity, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

Affinity is as stable as BB, has practical features like Vicious, but it's faster and has better battery life than either of them. Add to that the best support team and community I've seen yet in the ROM world.

    Check it out here.
