How can I store all emails on the device so I can access old emails without signal?

I am coming from a Blackberry, where for years I used my Godaddy pop email account. When I received an email on my phone, it would stay on my phone and it would not delete from the server. When I checked my mail on my computer I would also download my mail to my computer and once an email was 1 week old, my computer would tell the server to delete it.

When I go to my email on the Galaxy Nexus, it only shows me about 20 emails and then I have to select 'Load more messages'. The phone then downloads about 20 more emails from the server, but if I have no signal, it says 'Couldn't open connection to server' and if I want an old email, it will have already been deleted from the server. I only have about 200 MB of email server space.

How can I keep all of my emails on my Galaxy Nexus so I can view old emails with out cell signal?

I've always used K9 for email ...I have all my accounts flowing thru it ...it has options to delete or not delete from server ...I leave them all on phone and delete them manually ..can't remember last time I used stock one..

And this saves all my emails locally on the phone? Thank you so much! I don't understand why this is not a standard feature.

I have to say the new email app (Hotmail in my case) is drastically improved over what I had on my Droid X.
