Unable to restore backup taken using Nexus Root Toolkit

    Hi,

Before rooting my phone i had taken backup using nexus root toolkit. My phone had become unusually slow, so i did a factory reset. Then i turned to restore my apps which i had taken. I entered the path of the (.ab) file which is of 145 MB in size and said 'Restore my data'. I am very much sure that i didn't have a password set for the backup file.

The process takes hardly few seconds and says 'Process Finished!'.

Few other things i tried : I had restarted by phone in 'Recovery mode' and there was an 'Red Exclamation mark' ..but after sometime the phone came back to life and then i initiated the process of restoring.

None of the apps are being restored. Please help.

EDIT: Does the tool tell if the password entered is wrong? In my case, irrespective of entering the password, it didn't tell me anything and simply said restore completed. Is there a way to find out the password of the .ab file ? or in the first place find out if the file is encrypted ?

EDIT2: Do i need to be rooted in order to restore? I had rooted but now superSU is giving problems i.e. Titanium backup says it can't access root permissions although i have granted access to it. I read in xda-developers forum that in JB, after factory reset user is half-rooted. Is this the reason i can't restore ? Do i need to root again ?

    Thanks,
    Adithya
