Glaxy Nexus Update from Jellybean 4.1.1 to 4.2

    Hi,

I've been using my Galaxy Nexus international GSM version bought from Dubai. Right now it is running Jelly Bean 4.1.1. My doubt is can I directly update it to Jelly Bean 4.2 by unlocking the bootloader and using the takju factory image available on 'developers.android.com'. I've no experience in rooting or flashing android devices. Can I rely on the instructions provided in the below mentioned URL.

How to install Jelly Bean on Galaxy Nexus

Also do you think I should upgrade to LG Nexus 4. I am not a serious gamer. I just need pure stock android experience on my phone. Expecting a swift reply.

    Thanks in advance

    Nidhin

Those directions should allow you to safely upgrade to 4.2, especially if JB hasn't hit your region.

As for getting a Nexus 4 or not, that's up to you. Do you feel the need to upgrade for what you use the phone for?

Thanks a lot for your swift reply. Would go ahead with the procedure. I don't think I would need to upgrade to Nexus 4. Galaxy Nexus is a sweet phone and caters to all my needs right now. Why should I get Nexus 4 when I can enjoy the latest version of android on my Galaxy Nexus? Thanks Mate!

    Np.

And glad to hear you're still enjoying your SGN.
