    Freeze on Google Screen

I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Finally received the OTA update to Jelly Bean on Sunday.
I turn my phone completely off at least once a day. Yesterday when I turned it back on, it was stuck on Google Screen at start up, so I removed battery and powered on again. I was able to start the phone and use normally. Today, same thing happened, but it took 7 tries to get phone back on by removing battery, moving sim card, etc. I really want to avoid getting a refurb or deleting all information on the phone etc. Is there some setting or some sort of troubleshoot I can perform to check on this?

You can try booting into safe mode to see if it's one of your downloaded apps that's causing your issue. If it's not your downloaded apps then it could be the JB update itself or you have data that is not playing nice with your device. If you continue to have problems factory data reset would be the next thing to try. Make sure you back up everything.

Safe Mode - Galaxy Nexus by Samsung

Safe Mode temporarily disables all applications that have been installed via the Android Market. Performing this troubleshooting step is necessary to determine whether a 3rd party application is the cause of an Operating System / Application issue. Safe Mode should always be performed prior to a hard (factory) reset.
    Enable Safe mode
Disable Safe mode Enable Safe mode
    1. Press and hold the Power button.
    2. Select Power off.
    3. Select OK.
    4. Press and hold the Power button until the Google logo appears then release.
    5. With the Google logo onscreen, press and hold the Volume down key.
    6. Continue to hold the Volume down key until Safe mode appears in the lower-left of the unlock screen then release.
This may take up to 45 seconds.

    2. Select Power off.
    3. Select OK.
    4. Press and hold the Power button until the Google logo appears then release.

would the boot into safemode just boot up as normal, and then allow me to see what app is causing the issue? i havent changed any apps since getting jellybean.

so I have done some research on this and apparently this is a Jelly Bean issue. After turning on the phone after it being completely powered down, while booting on the "google splash screen" jelly bean does checks to make sure it starts up properly. supposedly this can vary from start up to start up where some can take under 30 seconds ( what I was used to on ICS) and to what some people are reporting as minutes for a boot up. Can anyone verify this or have any additional info? Samsung tech support said that if this is the case, then google should have some sort of fix for it, but I have no idea.

It is Jelly Bean, It has data integrity check upon boot especially if you do not shut down properly. Sometimes if I change make changes (add or delete) data files it can take a few minutes to boot. Not a big deal for me, It's just a JB thing.
