Google Play Store App not working on my new Nexus

Hello All,

It might seems funny, but I am struggling with my first ever android (Samsung Nexus) that i bought 4 days back (In Netherlands, Simlock free, without any contract) but I am unable to launch even Google Play Store App on it.

I don't have any default store app ,so i tried to install multiple version of Google Play App, so that I can access and download apps, but every time when I pressed the icon it blink for a moment and then nothing happens. I tried to clear data, restarted cell multiple times, but no luck. Please help how can I access Google play app or android market to download app.

I am stuck with it for a long time now. Request all experts to help me so that I can fully utilized my new nexus.

Google play app is a system app so it can't be installed like a normal apk. What I'm wondering is why yours didn't come with it. What version is your gnex?

No, in my cell it was not pre-installed. My Model number is GT-I9250-EUR_XX and android version is 4.0.1

Try going to settings, apps, all, menu (three dots on top right), reset app preferences and reboot phone.

From the version you gave, I believe that is a test build. It's not equipped with Google apps. I suggest you flash stock images on that to make it work. That build is what the developers in Google use

Does your about phone say: full maguro 4.0.1 icl23d 288 test keys

@thephantom..Yes you are right...this is the same I am getting in my About Phone.

you have some options. you can return to the store where you brought it and say they gave you a developers unit which they should change into a regular consumer's device, you can bring it back to the store to have them flash the phone with the google stock images so you can use it in case they don't want to change the unit, you can follow the links in my signature for flashing stock images so you can use your phone.

Thanks..I will go and try to get a new **regular customer** unit today..can anyone please help me to make my case more strong that is it illeagl to sell such kind of developer unit in regular market, so that I can compel store to give me new unit.

No need to make the case strong. It was probably like what happened with the very first person to buy a gnex in the UK last year. By mistake he got one with a developer's build. Just exchange it. Check it out http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/17/f...excha/?m=false
