Galaxy Nexus GSM won't boot even after trying every trick out there

    Hi,

I have read every thread on this forum on this problem (and many many more on other forums.) I even waited for 3 days to post this, trying to resolve it on my own before troubling others.

My phone is around 10 days old. It was working absolutely fantastically well until 3 days ago, when I tried to reboot it. While starting up, the display got a little fuzzy and then the phone went off. It has never gotten on after that.

    Background:
GSM version, unlocked and upgraded to Jelly Bean immediately after opening the phone (current build is takju, came with yakjujp i guess). I used wugfresh's Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to do it. Jelly Bean was working like a charm for around a week when this happened. I did install a few harmless apps like mycityway etc.

Fixes that I tried (after reading on forums):
    - remove and replace the battery
    - remove and replace the sim
    - charge the battery for an hour, then remove-replace it
    - charge the battery overnight, then remove-replace it in the morning
    - keep the battery removed for hours, then replace it
    - charge directly using adapter rather than laptop usb
    - wipe the golden metal at the battery edge and in the phone casing with a damp cloth
    - sacrifice an apple

    Nothing has worked.

The sad thing is - I live in India and since this phone was never released in India, I bought it over eBay, so there is no servicing here. I don't know if I can send it over to Samsung US or something, but even in that case, I have already unlocked my phone, which will void the warranty (I guess.)

Believe it or not, I actually owned and used the rock solid Nokia 3310 for 8 years and this was my second phone ever, after drooling over it for months at theverge. And what a monumental heartbreak it has been. A year of saving gone in a moment. Help.

    -njay

Sorry to hear what has happened but if none of the tricks work, it could really be a hardware malfunction and the only way to fix it is to open it up. You know anyone there with the same model? How about borrowing another battery first just to check

Testing with another battery is something I'd like to check as well. But I don't personally know anyone in Chennai, India who uses this phone :-(

Try booting with battery out and connected to pc. If that doesn't work also try booting into bootloader, hold volume up & down + power button. From there navigate to recovery using volume buttons.

Volume up + down + power botton never worked after it went down, as I have tried all combinations for different lengths of time.

I did try connecting to PC without the battery and a notification comes up saying:
"Device driver software was not successfully installed
    OMAP4440 No driver found"
    ...

I had installed some samsung drivers that were recommended bywugfresh's Galaxy Nexus Toolkit and they had worked earlier as I was able to install Jelly Bean on my phone. Now it says driver missing. Any suggestions?

Also, the fact that the phone was at least recognized by the PC means that the battery is the problem?

    Thanks.

It could be. Any way to try another battery? Perhaps a phone store near you can sell you another battery?
