Do you have any backups? I.E. VZW Backup Assistant (if you have Big Red,) on your sdcard, from Google, or pull them manually? I have made catastrophic brain farts (my own fault. Not a situation like yours, though) and I started backing them all up every way I can.

No i dont have any backups. I only did a factory reset a couple of days ago and all my contacts came back
Oh, cool! If they came back, my "guess-timate" would be that Google has them backed up. I'd make sure by loging into Google and/or check your "Accounts and Sync" settings (Settings/Acfounts and Sync.)
Glad you got them back, though. I was feeling your pain! Lol!

You can also make a backup yourself, app drawer > people > menu > import/export > export to storage, you then have a hard copy of your contacts on the (virtual) sd card that you can also copy to your pc, box, dropbox et al..
+1. Good call. That is my primary way of backing mine up. And I gotta tell you, I have been glad I did. Because I would still brain fart. I have gotten to the point where I would put a backup in a couple different folders on my sdcard. I call it "Dave-proofing" my contacts. Lol!

I put them in my Google Drive folder myself.
