SIM network unlock PIN?

I've been using my galaxy nexus for 3 months nowbut 1 day my cell phone fell from my pockets on the floor and it reset and when I turned it back on all the contacts were erased so I sent it to this repair guy and he said he would fix it and apparently he did but the problem now is that it asks for my pin and it's weird because I use any other sim card on this cellphone and it still asks for pin even when its the correct 1. By the way before I gave it to this repair guy I had some private photos and documents so I backed them up on my pc and I did a factory data reset on my cellphonewould this have something to do with what's happening to my cell phone now would I need to download a driver or something? everything else works except 3 g and phone calls which obviously come with the card. Please I'm in desperate need of help I don't know what else to do.

I'm pretty sure the sim unlock is tied to the sim card itself. I would take it back to the repair guy and ask him.

no it's not. Because as I mentioned earlier I tried swapping with other peoples cards on my cellphone and it keeps asking them for their pin number even when they input it correctly. I suspect this has to be a driver problem because it detects the card when it's in the phone and when it's not but it doesn't recognize any pin number. By the way I don't know what is the full extent of the factory erase could that be a problem?

For network locks, you can normally call directly the carrier for an unlock code
