I can't believe how grainy the pics are when you use the zoom. They are so bad you can barely see the people in them. Any ideas? Thanks!

It's "digital" zoom, not a true "optical" zoom that's used on high end DSLRs. Digital zoom will usually yield poor results.

Try camera zoom fx, still way better than stock zoom or yeah, get closer lol ;-)
