'Android System' turns off my nexus!!!

    hi All

I saw a lot of topics related to "nexus turns off", but haven't seen that someone mentioning Android system causing this issue.

It starts couple days ago, vibrates and turns off. In this days i realized that before vibrates it shows "Android System" and "Shutting down" dialog (see attached screenshot). that is not cause of battery low. it happened with 70% battery as well.

I restored device, re-flashed with 4.0.2 and flashed with 4.0.4, nothing helped. I don't know what to do. Is there anyone, who saw this issue before or know any solution.

    Appreciate in advance.

I've not heard of it happening before. Does the Android System screen just pop up randomly and then the phone powers down or is this something you can make happen by performing a certain action?

    no actions

    hi, thanks for reply.

that is weird, but it goes randomly. when i'm talking, browsing web, or just playing around. after its turned off, if you turn on directly, it goes till lock screen, vibrates and turns off again. so it need some time to turn on again without crashing.

Very strange that it persists across multiple versions of Android. I'd maybe try a custom ROM. If it keeps up I'd probably return it to stock and take it back to wherever I got it.

Here is the GSM ROMs section.

    Galaxy Nexus ROMs [GSM]

Gummy, Liquid, AOKP are among the favorites.

What you're describing seems like the normal behavior when the battery is dead. It shows the Android System screen, and then shuts down. If you try to turn it on after that without charging, it will go to the lockscreen, but not beyond that, and then die again, as you described. So, I would propose that maybe the phone isn't charging properly or the battery is bad.

Have you tried any different chargers or batteries? Are you sure that it is getting a full charge when this is occurring? I've had it show a high battery level after just a few minutes on the charger, so the battery readings aren't always accurate unless it has been fully charged.

After 2 days when this problem began I changed to new battery. Result was same as now.
And maybe I didn't notice, but I did not see this problem when battery is full (100%), but i'm sure that's happening even in 50-60-70% battery level.
