HELP!!!!! Phone powers on and off by itself REPEATEDLY, it is SCREWED!!!
I have had my nexus for just 2 days shy of a month (I have always been an Apple advocate but wanted to give Android a good go) Early this morning I was uninstalling some apps on my Nexus, my battery was low at the time (about 12%) I finished the uninstall process and was (leterally) walking over to my charger to charge my Nexus and all of a sudden it shut down on its own and started back up, but before I could even launch it powered off again and now is stuck on a boot animation loop and will not stop unless I either catch it at the right time to power it off myself or take the battery out........ but on replacing the battery and/or powering on the phone it remains in this boot screen animation loop OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
PLEASE HELP ME!!

Welcome to the forum. Before doing anything I'm hoping you have at least enough battery charge to get you out of this situation. With the phone powered off you should still be able to charge the phone a bit. Take the battery out and after a few minutes put it back in. Press both volume up and down + power button at the same time. You should have an Android laying on it's back with a exclamation. Press all three buttons again and you should now be in factory recovery mode. from here you want to do a factory reset. You will lose all your data but this should start you back to new. Good luck!
Have you backed up your files and pictures? I see too many desperate cries for help recovering deleted priceless pictures with no solution.
Need to hard reset? How to Hard Reset-Factory Data Reset.
Thank you for your help!...... Do you know what causes this issue and what I should do to avoid this happening in the future?
Seems to me that it's a bug in 4.0.2. I've seen it happen several times now, but not to any of us who are rooted and running 4.0.3. Hopefully an update will fix that and other things. Were you able to fix it?
I have only done the first step as I am multi-tasking with other projects at the moment........ I'm not sure if I should try Download or Bootloader mode??
If you're trying to do the factory reset you'll want Bootloader mode. From there, use the Volume button to navigate to Recovery and press power. If this brings you to another screen with an Android on his back, press the 3 buttons again and it should go into Recovery. Doing the reset will erase everything on your phone, internal storage and all. I don't see any other solution for you though.
Yes this worked..................thank you for all your help!!
Fortunately I had all my important information backed up in the cloud so it is all syncing back to my phone now.
I'm REALLY glad I joined this forum only days ago as I was dreading the thought of having to go to my provider to have my phone fixed or replaced as this is ALWAYS a hassle which becomes a lengthy dragged out process.
You guys are awesome and I couldn't have done it with out you!!
