Security screen lock options grayed out and unable to change

Hi everyone,

Been using my Galaxy Nexus and for some reason out of nowhere when I tried to change my screen lock option from pattern to face unlock, the options "None", "Slide", and "Face Unlock" were grayed out and unable to click on. It says Disabled by Administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage, but I don't remember doing anything that would've changed that. Is there anything I can do without resetting my phone back to factory default?

Are you running an exchange account on your phone - possibly for business?

i have the same problem. wiped and they were back, but for now wiping is not really an option. no exchange, no business accounts, no google apps (afaik, any way to check with google what my gmail account really is?). i believe it must be some app i installed, no idea what tho. no device administrators in settings.

The only accounts I have synced are my personal gmail account, and my google apps account for work, but its just your usual gmail account sync and not an exchange account. Does it have to do with my google apps account? Although I don't remember having this problem with my old android phone, albeit it was version 2.2 on HTC Desire Z. Any thoughts?

Under security in settings, do you guys have anyone set up as an administrator? It seems like it is locking you out of it as if you don't have the privilege to change it like a guest account. I've never messed with the admin stuff so I'm not sure that is what it is but it was my first thought.

Thanks, but nobody is set up as an admin. Never messed with the admin stuff either. Really weird.

Have you downloaded any app that blocks "locking"... No lock or something similar?

Have you tried a replacement lock screen app to see if they work... Such as widgetlocker or Go locker (will require Go launcher installed, just to enable) or Magic Locker...

none of the above, tho i have light flow installed, which seems to mess with my lockscreen somehow. uninstalling light flow doesn't help either, tho.

found the problem, i had a vpn connection saved. when i delete that i can select face unlock, slide, or none.

way to not tell me that, google...
