Transferring files to/from the GN using Ubuntu Linux 10.04 - no joy

    Hi all -

Got my Nexus yesterday, rooted, CM9-rc (Kang) ROM flashed....all is good - EXCEPT:

I can't transfer files between the phone and my computers, all of which are running Ubuntu Linux. I am running 10.04 as I only run long-term-support versions, and the next isn't due out until April or May.

There are several guides as to how to get this to work under 11.10, which is the current stable release. However, there are no backports available (that I can find) for mtpfs and mtpfs-tools; the latest I can find is version 1.0.2, and they're a no-go with the Nexus (won't detect it); 11.10 is on 1.1.1.

Anyone got this working under 10.04? I can transfer files in a Windows virtual machine, but it's more of a PITA.

    Thanks!

I'm currently running 11.04 and tried most of the guides for setting up MTP. They worked for the most part but proved unreliable. PTP mode should work but is hit or miss at best. I am avoiding 11.10 because I dislike unity and don't feel gnome3 is mature enough yet.

What I finally did and am happy with is using ssh to transfer files to and from my phone. I installed SSHDroidPro on mine. I believe CM9 probably already has DroidSSHd installed. I use sshfs to mount my phone and everything works well. Sftp will also work but sometimes will randomly drop the connection.

    hero:

Installed SSHDroidPro. The default password doesn't work, and I can't get in using plain ssh.

However, I installed sshfs on the Ubuntu machine, and I can get in and mount it with: sshfs -p 22 root@192.168.1.54:/ /opt/nexus (I use 23 as my default ssh port).

    So, we're good!

    Thanks!
