Total Newbie - Fastboot driver? First time trying to root/unlock

Hey geniuses of the galaxy nexus...

so ive been reading for awhile and finally convinced myself to try give it a shot at rooting because i really wanted to extend my battery life and try out the different aspects of this art that you folks seem to have mastered....


i dl-ed wugfresh's kit, i read a bunch and am going through the inital configuration...ive gotten it so my comp recognizes it as an adb device, but on the second configuration, which seems to be for fastboot, my comp keeps saying that the driver is already updated...then i click to see if there is a serial for fastboot components connected, and nothing pops up...


im running windows vista, and this a verizon gn...

what am i doing wrong? do i need to download a seperate driver? thanks a bunch in advance

Try installing the program PDAnet and using the driver that comes along with it. Sometimes it works for fastboot.

Thanks for the help, actually figured it out earlier but I appreciate it...now to find which roms and kernels are the bomb!
