Hi,
I am now running JB 4.1.1 (JRO03C) Takju on a maguro (GSM) GN. My Bootloader is unlocked but the phone is not rooted. I tried using NRT 1.5.2 to do it and the process seems to be successful. However, I get "installation failed" when I launch SuperSU and try to update the binary (I checked the wifi connection to the web was OK). Root Checker Basic (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ootcheck&hl=en) also says the phone is not rooted. I tried restarting the phone, I tried running the rooting process again... no changes... Superuser (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...c3UuZWxpdGUiXQ..) was already present on my phone. Could it be that it messes up with the rooting process? Should I uninstall it?
I also have ROM manager (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...21tYW5hZ2VyIl0.) installed...
Thanks a lot in advance for your help

hey wug one quick question before i start unlocking..is it necessary to update my toolkit with every new version that u release or will an old version continue working? newbie question:how would i apply the new version to my phone do i have to unroot relock uninstall the old version and download the new one then repeat process or just download new version and apply it somehow?
You certainly don't have to go backwards to go forwards. Old version will continue working, there is no way I can make them "unwork". That said, I will only provide technical support for my latest releases because there are good reasons I revise the code. I am trying my best to improve the program and add additional features.
Regarding, "applying it to the phone", I am not quite sure what mean. You just install the new program on your computer and it will work as is. If you already configured your drivers then you certainly don't have to do that again. In future releases I will incorporate a better system for "upgrading" the toolkit to the latest release.

First of all, thanks Wug for your work; your tool really make rooting the Galaxy Nexus a breeze.
As some other users have stated, since the OTA update to 4.1.1 (JRO03C), the rooting process, even though apparently successful, does not allow me to use app that requires root privilege anymore. If i try to update SuperSU, it simply says "installation failed".
My phone was rooted prior OTA using Nexus Root Toolkit 1.4.x and that was working (at least for Titanium Backup). Thus my phone already had Superuser app on it before re-rooting post OTA. I don't know if that could be the problem. How can I remove the old /system/bin/su and Superuser.apk ?
Thanks in advance for your time!
First of all many thanks for your GNEX root toolkit 1.4. I have used this tool to unlock and root may GNEX. It was carrier locked so i used F***Docomo v1.3 to carrier unlock it. And now it is unlocked to any carrier. But the problem is that 4.1 update is out and i did not get the update yet. Can you please suggest what should i do? Do i need to update my phone manually?
Here are some details of my phone after rooting
Galaxy Nexus Samsung- NTT Dococmo SC-04D
Android version : 4.0.4
Baseband version : SC04DOMLE3
Kernel version : 3.0.8-gda6252b android-build@vpbs1 #1
Build Number : IMM76K.SC04DOMLE3
This is my first android phone so don't know much about this. Please help me what should i do? How can i update my phone? Will i not be able to update my phone after rooting?
Waiting for positive response.
