Worked like a charm and very simple once the drivers are installed properly.

    Thanks!

Rockin' an unlocked and rooted Nexus now!! Would've been sooner had there not been an outage keeping me from activating. Still... less than 24 hours after purchase and I'm good to go!!

im having a small problem with this process,
i spent about 2 hours reading, downloading, and setting this up so as far as i know (which isnt much), i think i did it right.

i get it to boot into bootlader but when i enter the unlock command "fastboot oem unlock" nothing happens.
i restarted several times, changed usb ports, no luck.

the only possible problem i see is 2 "google apis" would not install in the sdk installer, i tried several times.
i have never used these tools before so im trying to provide any info i can think of.

    Thanks

    edit,
im also getting errors like this on the apis that wont install
Downloading Google APIs by Google Inc., Android API 14, revision 2

You must open command prompt from the folder where you moved the files over from. It would either be in tools or platform-tools or where ever you moved them from. "fastboot oem unlock" is the command and there should be a file called "fastboot" in that folder. Maybe try starting over.

Have you unlocked the bootloader before attempting to root?

Open up command prompt and type "adb devices" while your phone is connected to it. Does it recognize any devices?

If you get an output with your device serial number as a device then your sdk is set up properly and proceed to unlocking bootloader. If not start again from the beginning of sdk install.
