That's correct. After you've unlocked & rooted, re-download the backup app and restore your texts.

I need some help. I am trying to change out my kernel (I hear Franco is good). I am starting really late in the game. I spent 5 hrs trying to figure this out and all I got was mad. I tried to install all the things you suggested at the top, I couldn't even get the root toolkit to even identify my phone so I could make a backup. Everything on these forums seems over my head. If you got a truck load of patience, I could use your help. It's good karma to help a veteran before the 4th July,![]()
I can help, though you might want to ask in the Support Forum if you want a faster response.
First things -
When you plug your phone in, are you able to browse the files and copy things on and off?
Next, are you able to get into the bootloader mode?
Nice exhaustive work! I've only bumped into it today.
Maybe out would just need to be updated to include the new way the file-system looks in 4.2.1.
