Google Wallet Issue with GPlay GSM Galaxy Nexus
Hello All,
This is my first post in this forum (But I'v been visiting this forum since three months as soon as I bought my phone. I really like the content and the friendly help/advice other members offer. Great job!!).
Okay..now to the actual problem..
-I initially activated my Google Wallet on ICS (without root). I added my CitiCard successfully without any problems (note: At the time, you could only add Google Prepaid and CitiCards)
-I did NOT root my phone until I got my JB update since I knew it was just a matter of days. (wanted to save some time and effort in locking/unlocking bootloaders and resetting stuff :-))
-Post JB update, everything was fine. When I rooted, this messed up my google wallet. Obviously, I get the unsecure device prompt and my card status was messed up. So, I reset the app data. Since then I've not been able to add my CitiCard anymore.
-Google Wallet then received an update that allowed any card to be added. Here is the strange thing, I was able to add all my other cards (from other banks) except the CITI Card ( Unfortunately, I just have one CITI Card so I cannot experiment with another).
Now, during this troubleshooting exercise, I called up Google customer service a few times and they directed me to CITICard customer support (Direct number for GoogleWallet problems 877-762-2989). I called them at least 3 times (once every two weeks). Each time, they would tell me, that they need to re-provision the card and that CITI bank is working on some security update on their end. They would take my details (name, card number etc..) and ask me to try adding the card after a week. All the attempts have remained futile.
More Details: When adding the card, everything goes fine. The final step during validation (adding the card), the process runs for about 20-30 mins and times out. I then get an error "Could not add the card ....Please contact CitiBank".
Here are the steps I am using to add the Card:
-Open Wallet Application
-Try to remove the corrupt card. If it fails, then reset the Wallet app (clear App Data).
-Restart the App...which again asks for email address and all those initial setup stuff.
-Add Card.
-Key all the information.
-Processing time and then timeout with the error message.
This cycle just repeats everytime I add the card.
Is anyone running to the same problem? If so, did the issue get resolved? Can you please provide any guidance?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Google Wallet Issue with GPlay GSM Galaxy Nexus
Maybe call Citi Bank directly? (I mean the main number. Not the number Google gave you for Citi Bank.) Maybe they can give you info everyone else can't. Or additional resources, at least. Maybe there is something going on on your actual card that they can reset or change for you on their end.
It's not Google Wallet related. But I had a similar problem with my debt card at my credit union (a quite huge federal credit union). And the specific department related to my problem couldn't figure out what was going on. So they actually told me, "Normally we would handle problems such as yours. Let me try one thing. Hopefully it will work. I'll need to put you on hold for a minute while I transfer you back to the main number. Is that ok?" Of course I said that was fine to be on hold. And after a brief hold time the lady came back and said that she explained what was going on and what she has done, but wasn't able to. The other person introduced themselves and away we went. That is the only reason why I would suggest a vague shot in the dark like that. It helped me. Hopefully it will help you, too.
Sorry that that's the only idea I have. I'm affraid this one is over my head.

Thank you for the response. I will try your idea and see how it goes!

...Just got off the phone with CitiBank customer support (I got re-directed to Citi's Google Wallet support after calling the direct number). They verified my records and informed that my card has been re-provisioned and that now it can be added.
This time adding the card worked without any problems! The only difference is that I added the card over HSPA+ instead of WIFI (not sure if that makes a difference).
I am glad that it is finally resolved!!!
Thanks!

Sweet! Glad you got it going!
And no worries at all. Although, I don't think I really did anything. Lol.
