Nexus Ring Tone Troubles, Again!

Hi, people.

I've just got a new unlocked Nexus GT i9250 and inserted a valid SIM into it.
To my dismay, I couldn't receive calls, because it wouldn't ring.
Then I discovered that if I turn Bluetooth off it does ring, but way too low to be useful to me.
(The speech volume is OK.)

I found in various forums recommendations for an app called 'Volume+ (Sound Boost)' that might solve the problem. But all these recommendations are almost 2 years old. In Play Store, on the other hand, I found several more apps that deal with sound control, but none is specifically said to help with my ring volume problem.

I am new to smartphones in general and to Android in particular. I depend on your advise to make my Nexus a phone as well all the other stuff. Thank you so much.

Hi, there! Welcome to the forum! I haven't used Volume+ or a similar app. I know others have, though. Hang in there and someone should be able to help you out.

I used Volume+ when I firt got the phone back in December. I used the paid version (it had more options) until I flashed a few ROMs that included sound boosts. It worked great for me while I used it, so I would recommend the free version to try out and decide if you want to upgrade later.

After you get volume + you have to got to settings > sound>music effect and then select volume + to work right

Non of the apps I've tried works for increasing the ringer volume of the combination GS i9250 + Android 4.1.1 (JB).
Radical firmware changes--I shy away from.
However, acting on my son's advice, I found that changing the ringtone does miracles, if one is not too choosy in this matters.
With Pyxis ringtone I can hear the phone ringing in my pocket well enough, even with considerable background noise.
End of problem, at least for me.
