Why can't you be using it as a computer?
But really the battery life isn't that bad compared to other phones that consume less power (they tend to have smaller batteries, too). With normal usage I can keep it going for a day or so. Still, I bought a portable charger (the Pebble) so if I do run out it will give me two more full charges.
I'm on a HSPA+ network, though, so I can't speak for LTE users. We don't have 4G in the UK.

I never use 4g let alone use 3g, its always off as you can see in the screenshot. I can't use it as a computer because the battery will run out very quickly. I feel like, I use it when I must and not when i want because of the battery. But it's fine with me. Besides i will be going to college soon, will always have my laptop so i could charge it via USB anytime I want![]()
The battery runs out quickly - but if you're comparing it to other phones - you're making an apples/oranges comparison. Any phone with similar specs to the Galaxy Nexus is going to have similar battery life. The lone exception is the Droid Razr Maxx - but you can't remove the battery on that phone and it's not nearly as customizable.
Personally, for me - I bought the phone for heavy use and that's how I use it. I just keep a charger or spare battery nearby.
Try the app Juice Defender. Then you can use it as a computer
