Best way to set backgrounds?

I just posted this over a droidforums, but I will post it here too because I need some help...

I have a wallpaper that I want to use, and the resolution is 1280x720 (that is what I heard I should use if I want to have the background fixed).

Now, when I try to set it, it still makes me crop it with the built in wallpaper maker, and I am not able to select the whole picture..

I am using ADW launcher, but I cannot find where the setting is to turn off wallpaper scrolling (although maybe it is selected by default because my wallpapers don't seem to scroll?)

Is there somewhere I should be setting the wallpaper within ADW?

I try to use a wallpaper with resolution (2*portrait width) x (portrait height) - in the case of the Nexus, 1440x720. I can select all of the image that I want, and it scrolls the wallpaper nicely with your home screens.

To stop scrolling wallpaper in ADW, go to menu, ADWsettings, screen preferences, and uncheck the second box that says Wallpaper Scrolling.

Although, I would rather keep the background fixed...

Just tried 1440x720... This is as much as I'm able to select.

Got the answer. If anyone has the same issue, download "Wallpaper Wizardrii".
