I can't get past the unlock screen. I tried to reboot but nothing happens. I finally got a message saying, "Unfortunately the system UI has stopped" but it just stays on. What's my next step? Battery removal?
Thanks

Yes pull battery and reinsert. Boot into bootloader (vol up+down and power). Navigate to recovery using vol buttons. You should be in CWM recovery. Wipe data, cache, dalvik and then flash a backup you made or another rom from there.
Before you flash anything can you get back to stock? How to get back to stock using Odin
Have you backed up your files and pictures? I see too many desperate cries for help recovering deleted priceless pictures with no solution.

Thanks, Paul, that worked. I should back up more frequently as now I'm going have to rebuild my home screen. I didn't realize a backup takes an image so if my last backup was from a month ago that's where I'm restored to and, of course, any customization or apps added since then won't be there.
Thanks again
Glad you got it going!!!

I feel your pain about the home screens. Not sure what your ROM of choice is, but I like AOKP and they have an app in the market that will back up all your AOKP rom settings. So if I flash an AOKP rom, I restore all apps with TiBU, restore Apex settings, Restore rom settings with AOKP app, switch out my wallpaper and BAM im back up and going in under a min and everything is just like it was before I flashed.

Nice work Paul!!
So I flashed a month old backup. Many of the apps are showing but are not installed. I have the Nova launcher so ran their backup and it appeared to restore my home page less a widget. Then went about re-installing some apps. Got to AdAway, installed it and rebooted. When it came back up my home page is gone and now it looks like the stock page with the tutorials showing how to do things. In the lower left corner it says "Safe Mode"? What's that and what the hell did I do?
Read a little about Safe Mode so I tried to power off and got CWM but now I'm locked in CWM. Nothing works.
Is this another battery pull?

Yes. I would try another battery pull, and repeat the steps Paul suggested

Thanks. All of a sudden it rebooted and I'm back to my home page. Now I'm afraid to fool with it.
I'm not positive but it sounds like that app reset your launcher. When you set it up this time, install that app last. Good luck. Sorry I don't have any info on safe mode. Never seen it before.
