Nexus Problems - Amazon App Store?

I think I have a problem with the Amazon App Store application.

I am a new Galaxy Nexus (Verizon CDMA version) user. Had the phone about two weeks now. I have had a lot of fun customizing to meet my needs. It is rooted and the version is 4.0.2

Last night, I left the phone on my night stand, unplugged. I remember the charge was about 75% when I went to bed. Woke up this morning and it was completely dead. No charge. Plugged it into the charger and it started charging. Rebooted and it continued to charge.

About two hours later, I checked to see how much charge was on it and the phone was dead again. Pressed the on button multiple times and it would not wake. Unplugged it and it finally decided to boot after pressing the on button many times. Charge was 58%.

This is strange behavior. My phone had been working perfectly.

I retrieved the logcat from my phone using Log Collector and this is what I found:

    I
t would seem that there is a problem with the Amazon App Store application. I do remember updating the app yesterday. It showed up in my notification area as needing an update. I like to keep my phone updated so I said sure, let it update.

Is anyone else having a problem with Amazon App Store?
Can someone more knowledgeable than me interpret the logcat above for a better explanation of what is going on?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the forum! I'm unsure if that's normal behavior for the app or if it indicates an issue...but nothing looks particularly unusual there to me. To get a better idea of what is draining your battery, you can check out Badass Battery Monitor from the market and it will help you to see if any apps are causing significant battery drain.

    Hi there!

I'm not sure if this is my place as a SGS II user, but a Google search landed me here. I am experiencing the exact same problem, after updating Amazon App Store to the latest version a couple of days ago, it keeps draining my battery dry, so my phone doesn't last a whole day even on standby.

The battery monitor shows around 65% of my battery being used by Amazon Appstore. Force-stopping and removing it from cache did not help as it apperantly restarts itself after a while.

So just wanted to say you are not alone, and please let me know if you find a solution I had to uninstall it, but now all my Amazon apps are inaccessible.

I'll be also writing to Amazon customer support about it.

Hello! Yeah I don't think that it affects everyone, or else it would have made tech-blog headlines by now. But why some and not the others, I can't say of course

I also came here from a Google search. I also don't have a Nexus. I'm on T-Mobile, with a HTC Sensation, rooted with an aftermarket ROM. Everything works fine, except for the Amazon Appstore. I have Watchdog, which alerts me when an app uses too much CPU in the background. I am CONSTANTLY getting warnings that the Amazon Appstore is using high CPU, often 70% or more! No other apps cause any problems. Of course, killing it means it only comes back later, and kills the battery life. I believe this started about a week ago. I don't remember if it coincided with an update. Has anyone found a solution, other than uninstalling the Appstore?

As an update... I also have a Dell Streak, and I have the same problem with it. I tried killing all appstore startup tasks with Autostarts, but the Appstore somehow still runs. I'm wondering if one of those free apps I got from Amazon was checking on the Appstore, and maybe restarting it. That might explain why some people have problems, and some don't. It might depend on what apps you have installed, and if you got them from Amazon or not. I'm getting VERY close to just saying goodbye to all my Amazon apps. I'll certainly make any future purchases through Google.

This is a good thought ... a "rouge" app installed via Amazon.
I have not had the issue, so after reading this thread I went to Badass Battery and checked my stats. Amazon showed up at 2% under power used and was no where to be found under the "number of times waking device".
Maybe try uninstalling all the Amazon apps and the Amazing app store. Then reinstall the Amazon app store and slowly begin to reinstall the apps you have acquired from it.
I know it's a lot of work, but I think I would try that before repurchasing all the paid apps I got for free from Amazon through the Play Store...
