I have to admit a little surprised with Sammy as well ... they could've easily stepped it up a bit..

Well.. not really mate. Its close but the colors are kind of dull. I would even say that the photo quality can be compered with what I use to get from my Nokia N73 way back in 2007. I will upload some shots made with the GN as well as some other phone for you to compere .

You're lucky. I have to wipe and reflash a new ROM more than a couple times because of camera issues. The best time for me to take pictures with it is during a full moon, with a 4 leaf clover in my left pocket, and a rabbit's foot in my right.

They look pretty good to me, especially from a phone with a camera with 0 shutter lag. If I want really great quality images I'll just use a *gasp* camera. A novel idea, I know!

(Worse case I have my iPhone from work I can keep on me for pictures) :P ... great work tool...not a great personal device IMO.

I've lucked out recently (was using CM7, until I found out that after a few weeks my wireless radio would opt to not work - 2 flashes in a row...I'm now on Liquid Smooth 3 and really enjoying it). I'm looking forward to getting a,new phone with a decent camera.

(the GNex should fit the bill perfectly)

I LOVED SimplyStunning4.8-5x, but the camera lagged really bad for me or didn't work. I seemed to be one of only 2 that had the issue though. Tried CM7 but didn't last long. The longest after SS4.7 was RaidZero's and now stock rooted again.

The way I took great photos on my DX was the app camera zoom fx, also on this GN. If I want just quick basic shots I
stock cam, when I want "better " pics I use the app.
Give it a try!
