    Battery cover problem

I've had my Galaxy Nexus (HSPA+) for less than a week and already I'm having a problem with the flimsy battery cover. It was fine until a couple days ago, when I had a problem getting it to snap on properly. Now the three latches on the bottom do not latch, and therefore the bottom edge protrudes somewhat because it is not firmly snapped down. Not very much, but enough to make me feel uncomfortable. I had been removing and replacing the cover quite frequently as I was testing different SIMs in an attempt to compare T-Moble and AT&T service (It looks like I will settle on AT&T since I'm in a rural area not well covered by TMO). But even so ... less that a week???

Anyway, I've been trying ever since to use different methods of putting the cover back on, but cannot get it back on properly. I've inspected and cleaned all the prongs, sockets and grooves, but no love. I've used as much pressure as I dare to force the latches in, but still to no avail.

So, yesterday I found some replacement covers that are apparently OEM on Ebay and Amazon (searched for galaxy nexus battery cover) and ordered one hoping it's the cover and not the phone that has the problem. They are expensive (around twenty dollars) but I did it anyway. After all, nothings too good for my new baby. Yes, baby, I'll be more gentile with the next cover, assuming it works.

So my asking about a kevlar cover on my thread, i may not have been wrong to worry about the cover. I would assume if you return to were you buy the phone & complain it will be replaced.

Happened to my s2 as it has an almost the same type of cover. And this was during doing some inspection on the phone prior to paying. Sales guy ended up looking for a different cover to replace mine

Unacceptable. This phone costs too much to have this sort of design/build flaw. Looks like there could be an aftermarket for a 'real' cover.

The way I snap mine back on is that I start from the bottom and finish at the top. Haven't had any problems thus far. I hope it stays that way.

That's what I found. Working both sides from bottom to top seems to do the trick.

When I played with an SII and a Skyrocket the thing I noticed is how cheap and flimsy the battery covers were. In fact the magnetic security holder on the SII pulled the battery cover right off when I tried to take it off of the display. Even though I plan to case this has me worried. And as alpha said this is unacceptable for the price and considering this is supposed to be a top tier device.

This is the one thing I don't like about their phones ..I never liked any builds ...I hope this one feels good in hand ...hate cheap feel
I want this phone but if I don't like it in hand its a no go for me regardless of its potential ..

Once the cover is on it feels good in the hand very solid.
I've got a Nexus One and an old Iphone 3 in front of me and it feels better than both of them!
