Hey guys, new to the forum, I was having the same problem with the back cover, the bottom left corner always popped out when i put the cover back on. However, i think i fixed it. The tab on the bottom corner was kind of folded up, so i stuck my fingernail in there and gently bent it back down and it snapped in fine! Check your tabs people!!

This also worked for me. If you attempt to mash the bottom part in after securing the top, there is a good chance you have bent the bottom left bracket in. Upon examination, I realized that the bottom left "snap" had been basically mashed, so I stuck a nail in there and gently (GENTLY!) bent it out again so that it would fit. After that the backplate fit in fine again. Make sure you are securing the bottom part first and then work your way around to the top. Thanks to the above poster for making that clear.

Well, I do see now how that particular tab was bent down - so that it couldn't engage to secure the cover. I managed to bend it back up and carefully put the cover back on from bottom to top, though apparently it got REBENT. In my second attempt to bend it back to the proper position, it BROKE OFF.
Nonetheless, now the cover appears to be fully on (first time in a week) and secure..
All's well that ends well!!!

Thank you sooooo much!
This fixed the problem.....such a simple fix even though I have been fighting with this back cover for the past 3 days. Thanks again!

Hello everybody
Well, I wish I'd gotten here some other way, but I just bought my Galaxy Nexus from Google, about 3 weeks ago--preordered actually, so I could get it unlocked, and was really excited, since I'd gotten the Nexus One, when google first stuck it's toe into hardware. And I like the phone, but my old Nexus One still worked so well, I hadn't gotten around to even messing with the Galaxy, since I also had a new Nexus-7 tablet. Sadly, I went past the 14 day trial period, for free returns, as yesterday, when I was finally charging up my Galaxy, and put it back together with my old sim card, everything worked perfect, and I got the jelly bean update, which my Nexus One doesn't get....but!
Back of case, cover, didn't fit, pretty much exactly like people on here have described. I can't find any tabs bent, or any debris in there, and it's a brand new phone, so I didn't expect any. It acts as if the cover is just a 'hair' too long, if you know what I mean...in other words, if I put the bottom part in 'just right' and then keep clicking it into place all the way to the top, then the top doesn't quite fit...same thing happens in reverse...just leaves little 'cheap' looking spaces, no matter which way I try to snap it in.
I can get it to 'pop in' but then it just doesn't fit right. I have notified Google Play, where I purchased it, but it does say you only have 14 days to return it, but I told them the situation, and hopefully they'll do something...they sent me a return email saying they were swamped right now: I wonder if many others are having same problem...
You can use it like this, of course, but what with California sales taxes we now pay on internet purchases, I've got around $400 in this little jewel...cost of an unlocked phone, of course. I've always been treated fairly well by google, and I appreciate them selling unlocked phones at a reasonable price...on the Nexus One it was really expensive, so I was forced into buying a t-mobile contract... I'm off the contract, and won't even consider getting another one, but I just don't like having a nice new phone that seems so flimsy in what appears to be an obvious problem...not like I"m the first or the only one to have it. Seems they would have fixed it by now. And of course, sure does make my Nexus One seem all sturdy and well fitting...which it is.
Anyway, nice site, and I'll contine searching, see what other ideas I can find. I've tried a couple already, but no go. Thankyou in advance, for any help!

I just came on as a new member and yours was the first Thread I read. I also have the Nexus with exactly the same problem. But how I fixed it is by buying the Otter case for about $60.- Can., it has a rubber back , which helps protect it, should you ever drop it.
But I have an other problem that requires sending it in to the factory, but nobody knows how to sync all my information to my PC the way I can do it with my I-phone. Does anyone know?

Google automatically backs up and restores the apps you have installed on their servers. So, when you get a new phone and set it up you should (theoretically) have all your apps automatically downloaded and installed. However, the data isn't backed up unless the app developer specifically allows it.
If you would like to manually backup your phone, you'll need ADB (in the Android SDK). Once you have it installed, connect your phone to your computer (need to enable USB Debugging in Developer Options), open a command prompt and go to the directory you installed the software (e.g.: cd "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Android\platform-tools"). From here run "adb devices" (without quotes) to make sure your phone is available and then run "adb backup -f Nexus_apk.ab -apk -noshared -all -nosystem" (again, without quotes). Unlock your phone and select "Backup my data" and it will backup your apps and data without any system apps or the shared data. See this XDA thread for more info.

Thanks Roland, I'll probably end up getting another cover, eventually, but last night I did get hold of Google Play, and for a minute there, I thought they'd just refund my money, but they decided that I was a week too late, so they said it was now Samsung's problem. Fair enough. So I got hold of Samsung, and they didn't seem too thrilled either, and started at first by saying, well, they'd ship me a new cover...but I said, well, maybe it's *not* the cover, maybe it's the case itself, as mine didn't fit, first time I tried to put it back on, and it might be the case itself that has something wrong, not the cover...
And so they sent me a label, and said to UPS it back to Samsung. The more I read, the more I think this problem is going to get worse for them, not better: that battery/case cover is just a little too tight tolerance, for me, and I got a feeling others will begin to have problems, if they haven't already...but anyway, we'll see what they return, and how it works...sounds like it'll take a week or so to get it fixed...

Many thank's DrOG, I had the same problem with the back cover and did exactly as you said and it worked perfectly. I did not even break a tab, but I had to, GENTLEY, push my thumbnail under the tab a few times and make sure the cover is pushed all the way to the bottom. I don't think Guys you need a new cover. I also know how the problem started. I had to take the phone into the Cell store and one of the young guys opened the cover and put it back on.
So don't let anybody mess with your phone, put the cover on yourself, now since you know it.

It just doesn't seem right to me, that a phone that you carry in your pocket should be this 'delicate' where if you aren't really careful, every time you put on the back cover--and who is that careful?--you can bend a tab...or, in my case, the very first time it didn't fit...I mean, the very first time I even looked at the battery, and tried to reinstall.
And of course, I got online, did a google search, and ended up here and other places, and have tried many times, to do as apparently some of you have, straightening up the tabs, cleaning out junk...but it still just doesn't fit, and even if it did, I wouldn't want a phone that is that sensitive to any physical actions...I mean, I still have my google nexus one, and it's constantly been in my pocket, and I live at the beach, so it's not had an easy life...but it still fits perfectly...and works fine too.
Seems they should have done a little more testing on this case backing...I'm not the first, nor will I be the last to bump up against this...and unfortunately, if you don't see it right away, and notice that is isn't a perfect fit, then you bypass the 14 day period when they accept returns, etc.
So again, if you can mess around with it, and get it to fit, good deal, but to have to do this on a brand new phone, seems wrong. Samsung has a built in problem which they should have caught in testing....and my phone is on the way back to them, hopefully next one they send out won't have recurring 'fit' problems. I have a suspicion that many just haven't noticed it yet...
