USB connected phone not recognized?
Not sure why but when I connect my USB/phone to my computer it does not show up. Trying to transfer some files to my phone but where is it? Running AOKP build #28 with franco kernel. Anyone else having issues? How do I get my connection back? Thanks for any input here....
Edit: Tried rebooting with USB connected and it showed up, not sure why it isn't showing up when just connecting the USB. Was working fine....

That happens to me sometimes. I just unplug & re-plug. It usually recognizes after that.
The only way it will recognize it is with a reboot plugged into USB, even then twice it showed the GN SD but when I tried to open it nothing inside. Tried different USB cable and different USB connector on my computer...????? This is so random, may try reflashing to another backup to see if it comes back....seems to have happened after updating from AOKP Milestone 4 to build #28....
I think I saw somewhere that said Franco's kernel has an option for USB Fast Charge, make sure that this is unchecked, because when it is active it does not let your device mount so it can charge as fast as a wall charger
However, I also had a bad USB port on my GNex and just got my replacement today. Hopefully they don't give me too much crap when I send them back a phone with an unlocked bootloader! (Was able to revert to stock ROM though, so no traces of root access)
OK, my USB fast charge was not checked so that wasn't it. I just restored Codename 1.5 and the SD card info shows right up when I plug it in. Must be something with the latest AOKP build #28 that I flashed yesterday. According to the AOKP site a full wipe was not required coming from Milestone 4, so I only did a cache partition and Dalvik cache wipe before installing. Not sure why this happened but will continue to research the reason why this is working on one rom but not the other....??????
Hmm very odd... but keep in mind that the incremental builds from AOKP will have slight bugs, so I guess the best thing you can do is let them know that you are experiencing a bug (although I'm sure they will want you to do a full wipe before you submit a bug) and they will take care of it in a future build.
Let us know if anything happens. Thanks!

I'm flashing back to AOKP Milestone 4 as we speak to see if the problem is there too and not just in build #28. If it works I'll know it was the new build....
Edit: USB connection shows SD card and contents running Milestone 4, guess I'll try one more install with build #28 to see if the connection works or not...

My Gnex is stock 4.02 and I've had to use 2 different methods to connect to both of my computers by USB. On my laptop where I have PDAnet installed I have to go into the Developers Options and DISABLE USB debugging to get it to recognize my phone. Now on my desktop I have to ENABLE USB debugging to get it to see my phone and transfer files.... strange I know. It might be worth a try to see if checking/unchecking the USB debugging helps... I't worth a try before sending your phone back or wiping out ROM's
1. go to settings
3. menu or option
4. usb computer connection then enable "media device(MTP)"
Solved it for me.
