Voicemail notification icon won't go away? Google Voice not working properly Verizon

I just had my girlfriend leave a msg. New Voicemail appeared in my notifications, but when I log into voicemail, it's no longer Google Voice, and it says I have no new messages.

Not to be callous, but that's fairly rude. That's great that you guys have it working, but mine is not. I've been Googling this problem for hours and fiddling with countless settings and calling activation/deactivation numbers only to have nothing really go through. I have no idea how to resolve this issue.

My wife was having some issue with GV too on her Galaxy Nexus. I forget what setting I went to but finally resolved her issue with Google Voice. The set up process on your computer is vital to setting up GV correctly. If you can get a little more specific as to exactly what is not working right maybe I can back track to see what I did to get my wife's device to respond to GV.....it does work when configured correctly. I've been using GV for almost 2 years with no issues on my HTC Incredible and on my Galaxy Nexus.

Is there a way to deactivate GV without calling the *73-etc numbers?

both have worked great for me. google voice was terrible on my bionic though.
