Verizon will call as soon as it is released.

So, stopped at a corporate verizon today to see if possibly they could give me info if they had it in stock in the back room, a display model waiting to be set up, etc. Walked in and asked if there was anyone that would know about upcoming phones or releases. THe door greeter was elderly and had a dumb look on his face, but an employee who was bored quickly rushed up and told me about the "prime" that he thought was maybe coming from samsung. I told him that must be the nexus that I came to ask about. Do you possibly have them in the back ready to be released? I asked. he said no, but he is going to have training on the new operating system in the next few days. He did however state that he would put my name on a list and they would call me when they got it in. I was pretty happy about that. But doesn't seem like they would be releasing it Monday if the stores don't even have any in stock yet. Also the fact that the employee called it the prime, and originally called the new operating system honeycomb. He agreed with me when I told him it was ice cream sandwich, and felt dumb as he definitely knew it was ICS but had a slipup. but wasn't even sure on the name or manufacturer. I really do want to believe it is coming on monday, but with this, I have my doubts.

I had a corporate store guy ask me if HTC was "making this one too." He didn't know Samsung did the last one. Didn't really even act like he knew why the Nexi are so special. Makes me think of a car salesman trying to sell me a Chevrolet Diablo with an inline 14 cylinder propane gas motor.

::sigh:: Fortunately, none of these people will be involved with the release of the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus.

I think the key to that report is " AT&T has no plans in the near future to sell the device in stores." As I understand it, there will be a 120 exclusive by VZW before the Nexus will release to other carriers, which would put the Nexus into April or May, depending on when Verizon gets around to releasing it.

120 day exclusive?! That really bites for other carriers. I'm sure there will be even more impressive devices available by then.

::shrug:: GSM enthusiasts at worst can buy the international version, if we just get tired of waiting for AT&T and/or T-Mobile to release it. May cost a bit more, but we'll have it in hand.

Cool phone, but it's just *not* a Nexus. That's like the Cadillac of Android phones.
