On my Galaxy Tab 10.1 I can record video in the background and with the screen turned off, but on my Galaxy Nexus leaving the app or turning off the screen halts the video. I do have the Starburst rom on my Tab, but I have the factory stock rom on my Nexus.
Does anyone know if the limitation is due to Android 4, the stock rom, or even the phone's hardware?
Since I know people will ask, I use a webcam app on my nexus and my tab that can be viewed by any device on my wifi. I use it to keep track of my dogs (like watching the cat's food bowl or kitchen counter when in another room for training purposes). I can leave my Tab there with the screen off streaming video, but I can't do that with the Nexus.
I'd also like to use the nexus as a dash cam when I get a car dock as evidence for any accidents. Obviously the Tab is a bit large to be in the windshield, and I'd like to be able to use navigation on the phone while it is recording.
Anyone know a way around this or a custom rom that allows background video recording/streaming?
