Keeping the back off when it's in the case

So I got my extended battery yesterday and, as I feared, the case wouldn't fit on it anymore. However, if I don't put the back cover on the phone and just cover it with the case it fits great. Could leaving the back off and converting it with the case cause any problems?

I leave the back off with the case/holster combo. Shouldn't be any issues. I did the same thing with my DROID X for over a year as well.

    Tap'd from my G'Nex

You do but it adds just a tiny bit to the thickness of the phone. Just enough in some cases (no pun intended) to not fit in certain cases. Leaving the battery cover off allows you to use some cases that you normally wouldn't be able to use.

My extended battery came in today and I REALLY want the oem case or one similar with a kickstand. I'm a little skeptic of leaving the back cover off of the phone, even with a case on (I carry my phone in my pocket and often notice link behind whatever case I use). Has anyone tried taking a dremmel tool to the inside of the battery cover to thin it out? Maybe then the case would fit a little more flush and the oem case would fit. Or is the difference so much that it wouldn't matter how much I skimmed off?

...or, for that matter, cut the entire battery space out of the back of the stock cover
