A month living with the Galaxy Nexus- review of a gadget obsessed.

Gadget: Galaxy Nexus CDMA VZW (rooted)

THE GOOD: Its fast, its clear, its superb, its pretty. As every new device it has tons of bugs, but most of them can be taken care of and some of them will be taken care of over time. So its not a big deal.
THE BAD: Battery life, but this can be fixed, either by purchasing and extended battery or by rooting and getting the right kernal. And picture quality is not great, outdoor is ok, but indoors is not satisfactory.
    THE UGLY: Network issue.

    Android: ICS 4.0.3

THE GOOD: Its fast, its clean, its easy.
THE BAD: Not all apps are optimized for this 'yet'.
    THE UGLY: None

    ROM: AXI0M 2.4 //
Kernal: Apex V5 (came with the AXI0M)

THE GOOD: It's clean, its customizeable, its FAST! It increased my battery life by 35-40%.
    THE BAD: None!
THE UGLY: Somebody pissed THE0RY off and he stopped working on this fantastic ROM

    Root method used- ADB link

THE GOOD: I have used AFB before on my previous Android(s), so it was not anything new to me and it was pretty easy
THE BAD: Only hard part was finding the working driver for Win 7 64 bit, found that here.
    THE UGLY: None.

    Launcher: Nova link

THE GOOD: The fast, easy to learn/use. Its customizeable. It doesn't lag at all, it has the same speed as the stock Launcher, just more customizeable.
    THE BAD: None.
    THE UGLY: None.

    S
    creen protector: Steinhill Flex link

THE GOOD: People have different opinion on this. I guess I am one of the lucky ones who didnt have problem installing or using it. It requires liquid for installing. I put it on the night before I go to sleep and by the time I woke up, all the bubbles were gone.
THE BAD: When screen is turned off, I can see various shades through the middle part of it. But when screen is on, it doesn;t bug at all.
    THE UGLY: None.

    Case: Case-mate POP!
    link

THE GOOD: It's pretty! It fits it really well. The inside is silicone while the outside is plastic, a really good protection.
THE BAD: Little thick, but doesn't bug me much. Only use it when doing outdoor activities, like snowboarding etc.
THE UGLY: When it is on, the data cable came with the box does not fit (although my old DX's data cable fits). Also most headphone cables do not fit either. But as I mentioned before, I do not always use it, so I decided to deal with it, since I use it on and off all the time anyway).
**Wicked claimed that this fits his cable. So I guess there might be 2 version of it out there. So if you want to purchase it, make sure you read the reviews and get the right product. The other link of this is here.

    R
    ecommendations:

Number one: Learn how to install stock images or how to get back to stock.
    Number two: ROOT it!

    Wireless tether (root needed):
    link
    Boot animation (root needed): link
Softkey mod:link (for people who are still using AXI0M and plans on staying on it a little more)
    4G toggle widget (root needed):
link(does not work on stock ROM)
Cache-mate (root needed): A great cache cleaner
    link
    Zedge: Wallpapers and tones
    link
Getjar: App market, time to time they have good deals. Like the tapatalk app is free on here.
    link
    Volume+: Sound booster app
    link
MX Video player: Has an easy to use interface and plays most video types
    link
Light Flow: The app you should have for make use of the LED colors
    link
AdFree (root needed): To stop ads in free apps
    link
Tiny Flashlight: Best and the fastest one click flashlight widget
    link

    Overall:

This is so far the best phone I have used. I love the way it feels, it performs and it looks. I am satisfied. It does has some bugs, but I can live with them
    That is all!
You all have a great Sunday!

Very nice writeup. Only thing I have to disagree with is picture quality, but that's subjective. For me this camera exceeds what I really need.

Well, I think the DX took better picture than this. Again, GN does take great pictures in daylight and ok pictures in bright light, but IMO its takes mediocre pictures indoors or in low light. Either way it does the job and I am loving the panorama mood of it!

Yeah it isn't the best camera on a phone, but again which is why I said it's subjective, it exceeds my expectations. It's a little better than my Incredible and no shutterlag is a huge plus for me.

Indeed it does the job and the way it takes panoramic pictures is awesome

I enjoy taking pictures with the Gnex more than any phone I have owned. The options, quality of pictures, speed in taking pictures has exceeded my expectations.

    Great review though.
That really sucks the stock charger wont fit with the case on.

Excellent write up! Is the OP on on an older radio or is he on a more recent? I'm beginning to doubt which one I'm on. Am I on the latest? If not, where would I get it?

Agreed with both of you. And forgot about the 0 shutter lag thing. I think this is the best feature. When I give my phone to other people to take picture of me, almost everyone doesnt realize that and keeps on taking tons of pictures..LOL

And yeah, it sucks, but its still a nice case. Does the job for me.

Mine's an older radio. As far as I remember correctly, V. EK07 came out a week or two ago. But can't confirm, didnt really get to spend time on radios yet.
