how to tell if it is the GSM version ?

just like the title says, how do i tell the GSM version from the cdma version ?

Not the most scientific method but what network is the phone on? Verizon is cdma/lte.

Or you can go to Settings > Wireless & Networks More > Mobile Networks and look at Network Mode. Should say LTE/CDMA or GSM.

Easy-- if it does not have a verizon branding and purchased from a 3rd party retailer...it is GSM

The GSM version is noticeably thinner, and a different color..there are pics here and online that show these differences.

If you see the Verizon logo on the battery door. I believe these doors aren't interchangeable between the different models

simple.......if you are in NNJ and the phone works, its a verizon phone

thanks , so much to consider as I"m on CDMA here in canada, but travelling to Europe which will be GSM.. so will a carrier unlocked CDMA Galaxy Nexus work on GSM in Europe ?

or do i have to ensure I get a pre paid CDMA carrier when in Europe ?
