My old phone which is mysteriously working fine now is a Korea model purchased in December '11. It's build is IMM76K. Excellent reception ever since 4.0.4 was loaded. The refurbished replacement that had literally off/on reception was from China and build number IMM76Q.

In my house I have either 0 or 1 bar. I went to the Sprint store and requested an airave airvana. They do not advertise these. It is a femtocell that they provided for free. There is no monthly charge. It looks like a modem and acts kind of like a mini cell phone tower. I think AT&T has them as well. I now have full bars. Too bad reception is not up to par elsewhere.

Can't beat this. Hopefully my signal will be this good when I switch to AT&T.
