Found possible issue with Galaxy Nexus and Verizon 4G LTE

Hey all, new member here! I got a Galaxy Nexus last week to upgrade my Verizon phone through Amazon Wireless (highly recommended!)

I plan to root it later, but I wanted to make sure it was worth rooting.

I had a big issue with battery drain right off the bat, and turning off everything didn't quite seem to do the trick.

Then one day I updated the Settings -> More... -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode from "LTE/CDMA" to just "CDMA" and the battery drain issues seemed to go away.

Today, I did an experiment. I changed the preference back to "LTE/CDMA" but left "Data Enabled" OFF so that it was just looking for a normal cell signal, and the battery drained about 20% in 2 hours.

Then I changed it back to CDMA, and in 45 minutes it hasn't even drained 1%.

Not sure if this experiment shows anything for sure, but I thought it was a good piece of information to share with everyone.

    Feel free to comment!

Welcome to the forum!! You've confirmed that LTE is a huge battery sucker. If you can get by with CDMA (3G), you will definitely save battery. Same with WiFi.
