Hi

It should happen automatically ... I have noticed the past few months that Google sync has been a lot slower then it used to be.
Hmm, thanks. Has never happened on mine which I've had for a few months - I assumed I didn't have notification setting set up. So does that mean it's to do with Google sync being slow as in if say it takes 12 hours to sync then the notification won't clear for 12 hours? (I am currently getting messages on my phone about sync being slow). Thanks for getting back to me![]()
I've been having this issue since I got my Gnex on release ... don't think it's a device issue or OS issue, I just think Google must have changed something. But, mine has never taken 12 hours LOL more like 3-5 minutes whereas a few months ago it was practically instant.
Works fine on mine - blinky light always stops within a minute after I clear the new messages on my computer.

OK guys, I'm doing something wrong here.
YankinDaSouth: When I said 12 hours, I was using it as an example because I never actually saw the notification go off on it's own accord. I would just open it the next time I used the phone and get rid of it.
So now, I removed my Google a/c, switched off the phone, switched back on again and added my Google account. It went through the sync process and that was fine. I sent myself an email and opened it on my laptop. But the notification icon is still on the phone. So I did a manual sync and the icon is STILL there!. And I've done a 2nd manual sync ant the icon it STILL there ........again!
What am I doing wrong?
Only thing I can think of:
1 - (On phone) Go into Gmail settings, click the account and be sure it says Gmail sync is ON
2 - (On Phone) Settings > Under Accounts select Google, then the account in questions. Be sure Gmail box is checked
If all the above check out and problem still persists try clearing cache/data from the Gmail app on your phone and setting everything up again.
Any chance you have more than one GMail account enabled? I have two, and of course, if I only clear one on the computer the other one will still cause the LED to flash if there are new messages.

1 & 2 above check out, YankInDaSouth. Not sure how to clear the cache.
Also noticed new problem. All my gmail contacts have what look like Japanese characters (未知) before each contact. These appeared after I set up my phone 2 days ago after it had a repair. They also appear on my laptop. Don't know if this is a google issue or GN. I've googled the characters etc. and nothing useful showing up. Think I should do a complete reset on my phone and see what happens.
