    Control Apps Running in Background?

Is there a way to control apps running in the background? i think its awesome that we can control what can send background data, but what about controlling what runs in the background? just dont see the point in having apps run in the background if i haven't used/don't plan on using it anytime soon...?

oh and not by disabling them, they're apps i'd use once in awhile...

One thing you can do is go to settings > developer options and tap on background processes limit. You can't turn off a specific app here but you can limit the number of running apps.

In settings > data usage you can restrict specific apps but I believe you have to set an overall data limit first.

oh nice...thanks, i actually didn't go checking out that folder before and figured i wouldn't just because I'm not a developer lol...lots of interesting options in there...in theory, if we limited the number of background processes, wouldn't that help extend battery life?

and... how does the dang thing decide which processes to run and which to not run? this option is really confusing to me... so say the 5th application was the browser, if it kills the browser would it start and new session and say close all the windows you had open?

not sure if it would "kill" the browser and start a new, or just restrict it from doing anything while in the background...??

My guess is that it will just kill the background processes. The browser usually isn't a problem there.
Background processes might be your weather app, your social networking apps, news app etc.
