    Password manager

I am looking for a new password manager. I have currently been using Universal Password Manager. However every time I have to wipe data I loose all my passwords. I use so many passwords for work it is very hard to keep up with all of them. I am looking for an app that I can have on my phone as well as on my PC (Windows 7) Preferably, that when I add a password I can also add it to my PC so this way when I have to do a wipe I don't loose all my info. I will have it backed up on my PC. Then maybe just re-sync and have them back on my phone after the wipe. I tried to download the UPM to my PC but for some reason it will not open. I am open to all suggestions. Thank you in advance.

Just downloaded UPM to have a look. It has a built in method for backup/restore of the app data. If you used something like Titanium Backup for your apps when wiping data it should also leave the info intact. From UPN's main screen, press Menu > More and you'll see Backup and Restore. This would save a file on your internal storage so it wouldn't go anywhere unless you had to wipe the entire phone.

I saw the back up option in the app. Problem is i couldn't figure out how it worked. Also i can't figure out how to restore from titanium back up. All i see is a bunch of files. Do i need to restore them all one at a time? While on that subject, i still have a backup on Ti backup, how can i move the files that's on there now to, let's say pc so i don't get them confused with the next time i back up, or will Ti backup just overwrite what's already on there the next time I do a backup

I'm sure you just press the backup button and it will save everything to a file on your internal storage. As for TiBu, press Menu and select Batch and it will show your list of apps with check marks next to them. You can select/deselect whichever you wish to restore and press Run. You'll have to "okay" each app individually if you don't have the paid version. If you have the paid version it's just 1 click and it will restore everything. A little cashy but a worthy investment if you flash a lot IMO. The files will just be overwritten with the newest backup when you make a new one.

Awesome. Thanks for that info about titanium. I was wandering about that. So it mainly just updates with each backup. And adds any new apps. Sweet.

So were you able to perform a back up with titanium before wiping and installing the rom? If so...
You should be able to open titanium/select backup restore option/find universal password app in the list/tap the app/ a pop with options appears/select restore/data only or app & data.

Sorry for the late weigh-in. Try mSecure. I love it and it preserves your data through a wipe. It's also currently 49 cents.

    Tap'd on my GNex

I use passdroid. You can backup and export your passwords to the SD or email them to yourself. I got mSecure also. Gonna try it out.

bhfd64, I looked an NOW I see a file in the root of the memory that says UPM. Before I ever rooted I NEVER had that there, even when I did try to backup UPM. I just figured that with it being in the root of the card the next wipe (OH yes, there will be more wipes to come..lol) it would get removed. I am the worse with passwords. Most of mine for work all all Dept. generated so there always a series of letters and numbers and everything we access has to have something different, they have to change every month. It's a headache, but I know when it comes to peoples information, I would rather it be a pain for me than for someone to find something they shouldn't haveouldn't about someone. I may get brave later and see if I can back that app up again, DELETE the app, Re-install and restore data to just that app. (Since I don't have all my passwrods back yet)

Ladyangler, Yes mammn, I did do a back-up with Ti. However all my apps came back from the market, and alot of the "junk" apps I didn't even want to put back. So I didn't want to try restoring with Ti until I figure it out. I would hate the wrong button and mess something else up..lol Sitll learning before I just press buttons.

Mujibar and Droid-Xer, I will check those apps out too. Never know I may like them even better. Looking at msecure, I like the sync idea. Does it use space on your dropbox account, or is it a seperate dropbox that they use to store your info? Will I also need the windows software to be able to use the sync? I really don't need it on my PC. Like I said there mostly work stuff and there really isn't anything personal in there. Even if someone gained access they wouldn't know what they are. No URLs are saved, my personal passwords I use hints or clues or abbreviations of the actual passwords and only few usernames. I like the idea of mSecure but not worth $20 to have it on my PC if it syncs and backs-up on the cloud.

    thanks everyone for everything!

I believe the Dropbox sync is to your own account ... but how secure is that storage, really? I don't use it to sync with PC. I just backup to SD card. Those database files can then be backed up to PC.
