Where's the search button within apps
I'm confused. Why is there no search button on the soft buttons along the bottom. I used this button to be able to search for emails within K9 and for music in doubletwist. Not having it is really inconvenient. Is there a way to search that I just do not see? If not, is supposed to be coming out soon? Is there a workaround for the time being? Seems like a huge oversight.

This was a design decision when they made ics for the nexus. I think they probably wanted to replace that button with the Google search on your homescreen. The only way you might see a search button within apps is the same way some apps add a " ..." button, but im not sure if that's possible. Another way may be to install a custom rom, but you'd have to check in the rom. I wouldn't expect it to be included in an update of ICS either.
It's the same reason you don't get landscape view for your homescreens....

A lot of folks are put off by that. Almost all of the custom roms developed for the Gnex have the ability to add a search button in the navigation bar. Some of them replace the Recent Apps button with a Search button and others simply add it and four buttons. In my search for an answer for you I did come across quotes from the devs for each of those apps saying they were looking into adding that feature.
As for K-9, you could replace it with the Gmail app. It has a search and here's an article describing how to use Gmail for all your email needs (BTW, I've been doing this for about 2 years now and it works great): Using Gmail as your own personal push mail server .
I have no idea if there's another app that you could use instead of Doubletwist, but maybe you should look around.
Good luck
