Facebook on Nexus question

Now I know you can download the Facebook app and sync it on the Droid X (my old phone) but the problem with that was it would download ALL the numbers of the people you are friends with on facebook. This was just annoying.

On the Nexus, if I get the Facebook app and sync it(can you even do this?)...does it just sync the contacts I currently have on facebook and that it recognizes or does it sync EVERYONE i am friends with facebook that has a phone number up?

When you first install the Facebook app, it gives you the option of syncing all contacts, only those who already exist in your Google contacts, and none.

Hmm weird, it didn't ask me when I installed it. Then I went to Accounts&Sync and I chose facebook...nothing happened.

^^^ I agree with bhfd64, however, even though I selected to only sync contacts that I already had, it synced all facebook contacts. I'm not sure if this is a common issue, or I accidentally made the wrong selection, but just letting you know what happened to me.

That is weird, it's always asked me. Open the Facebook app and press Menu, then Settings. The bottom one under "Other Settings" is Sync Contacts. It gives you the options I mentioned earlier.

Edit: I always set mine to Don't Sync, and it doesn't sync anything. Probably why I haven't experienced the issues with syncing it.

I don't have an "other settings " option in my Facebook app that I'm aware of. Does it appear only on initial install?

I just press Menu, Settings, and it's at the bottom. I have version 1.8.1 of the Facebook app and no updates available for it in Market.

The reason you can't sync using the Facebook for Android app when stock is because it does not have the capability of doing so. Us rooted users running custom ROMs are able to do it because the devs added the function back in for us.

When stock you will need to use an app such as Friend caster to sync FB contacts. There are others but Friend caster is the only one I tried to be able to speak for it.
