Dragon Go! Voice Recognition app for Android now Available

Nuance has a long history of working with high-quality voice recognition and input technology for mobile devices. Not only is Nuance the backbone of services like Apple’s widely praised Siri, they also provide their own products. Dragon Go! is just one of those products, and today it’s finally available for free on the Android Market.

So just what is Dragon Go! and how does it work? Essentially, Dragon Go! is a virtual assistant-type app. By using natural language recognition, Dragon is able to provide you with an answer or result for just about anything you can ask it. Want to make reservations for a certain restaurant? Simply tell Dragon Go!, “Make reservations for the Oak Room at 9 tonight.” Dragon will then display information from Open Table, which is available in the Dragon app (along with any other app you could need), where you can confirm your date.

While searches and requests are displayed in the built-in software Dragon determines are the most relevant to what you say, you can choose between a ton of apps if you’d like more info. For example, when you search for something like, “the new Hobbit movie,” Google search is the default information displayed. But by using a horizontal list of movable tabs, you can view information from Wikipedia, IMDB, YouTube… the list goes on.

I've tried it on a few things so far, directions to local restaurant and call the closest Best Buy Store and it did great. I did have to go in a check all the location stuff in the main settings menu, but it seems to be working great. I gave it a spot on my home screen and will play with it some over the next few days and report back. So far, it seems more polished than the others I've tried.

    LMAO!

    I asked it:

"How far is it from the Earth to the Moon?"

...and it took me to Google Maps, with driving directions to "Russell's Seafood Palace".

    uhhh...think it needs some work?

Also, Siri talks back...does this have a way to link to the speech synthesis app (I have SVOX installed)?? I have "Jeannie" on my OG Droid which actually worked pretty well...it wasn't perfect, but it was kinda cool - for the above example, it would actually tell me (speak) how many miles it is from here to the Moon.

The link is not working for me on my phone, and a manual search turned up nothing. Has it been pulled from the market?

I was not able to find it in the Market from the phone either. I got it from the computer android market.

    Good luck.

It's still there, I downloaded it (via the phone) about an hour and a half ago, just before posting above. It took me a while to find it, though. Try using "dragon go speech" for your search terms.
